Assists in annual budget process
- Assists the managers to prepare the annual budget, including wage & salary and supply & expense budgets; renders technical assistance to managers.
- Assists in other budget functions as requested.
Nursing Analytics Focus
Supports Nursing leadership in development of labor budgets, staffing projections, and productivity-based financial planning.
Assists Nursing leaders with labor variance analysis and staffing cost forecasting.
Manages the department's financial analysis and reporting systems
- Develops a comprehensive reporting system to collect, process and disseminate financial and utilization data.
- Audits system data for accuracy and ensures proper steps are taken to maintain system integrity.
- Supports development and maintenance of productivity and operational dashboards supporting Nursing operations.
- Assists with validation of financial and operational data across Epic, Workday, Strata and other enterprise systems.
Collaborates with Sr. Director of Finance in preparation, analysis and presentation of statistical reports
- Oversees audits of data for validation and accuracy.
- Assesses departmental and divisional performance based on multiple data sources.
- Provides leadership with tools to monitor departmental performance.
- Develops systems to monitor financial performance.
- Provides productivity, labor utilization, and operational analytics to Nursing leadership to support staffing and operational decisions.
- Develops productivity and benchmarking reports supporting Nursing operational management.
Coordinates data acquisition from staffing systems and hospital systems
- Supports integration of staffing, payroll, productivity, and financial data to improve operational reporting and analytics.
Works collaboratively with managers to develop business plans
- Researches current business/technology related to services.
- Evaluates operational and financial strategies.
- Performs costing and financial analysis.
- Supports Nursing leadership with staffing model development and operational efficiency analysis.
- Assists with development of staffing and productivity models aligning labor resources with patient volumes and workload demand.
Provides benchmarking, quality and workload measurement data
- Compiles benchmarking data.
- Provides data to managers.
- Completes external surveys.
- Supports development and interpretation of nursing productivity benchmarks and staffing efficiency metrics.
- Assists Nursing leaders in interpreting benchmarking results and identifying performance improvement opportunities.
Participates in initiatives to improve cost effective care
Provides ad hoc analysis
- Provides financial and operational analysis supporting Nursing initiatives related to staffing efficiency, labor utilization, and operational improvement.
Maintains databases
- Supports maintenance of productivity and benchmarking datasets used for Nursing operational analysis.
Nursing Financial & Operational Analytics Support
Key CNO Priority Responsibilities
- Nursing Operational Analytics Support
- Serves as primary finance analytics liaison to Nursing leadership.
- Develops labor productivity analyses including: Overtime utilization/Agency usage/Sitter utilization/Non-productive time/Vacancy rates/Staffing efficiency metrics
- Supports temporary labor projections and analysis.
- Participates in Nursing operational meetings as finance analytics subject matter expert.
- Supports Nursing budget development and labor forecasting.
- Assists with productivity dashboard development.
- Supports operational improvement initiatives through financial and productivity analytics.
Education & Operational Partnership
Education and Operational Support
- Assists with development of training materials supporting financial and productivity analytics adoption.
- Supports education of Nursing leaders on: Productivity reporting/Benchmark interpretation/Variance analysis/Financial performance management/Supports development of financial literacy and data interpretation among operational leaders.
Systems & Benchmarking Support
Productivity & Benchmarking Systems Support
- Supports implementation of productivity analytics initiatives including Strata Productivity Reporting.
- Assists with benchmarking data validation and classification reviews.
- Supports reconciliation of financial and operational data.
- Supports development of operational volume definitions used in productivity analytics.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education – Preferred
BS or BA in Business, Finance, Healthcare Administration, Public Health Administration or related field preferred.
Minimum Work Experience
Five – seven (5–7) years in a healthcare-related environment.
Required Additional Knowledge and Abilities
Strong experience with financial and data analysis.
Strong knowledge of cost accounting, variance analysis, inferential statistics and other methods of quantitative analysis.
Skilled at interpreting data and presenting material in an innovative format. Strong graphic presentation skills.
Ability to independently prioritize work appropriately and to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
High level of creativity and motivation to develop new programs, strategies and approaches to problems.
Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
Must demonstrate exceptional judgment, discretion and ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of departments, clinical staff, and individuals at all levels both within and outside the institution.
Experience supporting healthcare operations, nursing services, productivity analytics, decision support, or operational finance preferred.
Knowledge of hospital labor productivity concepts such as staffing models, workload statistics, benchmarking methodologies, and operational performance metrics preferred.
Experience working with healthcare enterprise systems such as Epic, Workday, Strata, or comparable analytics platforms preferred.
