Job Summary
SummaryWe are seeking a motivated Systems Engineer to assist with the day-to-day development, administration, and support of technical platforms, including software, network, hardware, and database environments. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, help troubleshoot technical issues, and contribute to the reliability, efficiency, and effectiveness of the organization’s technology platforms.
What You’ll Do
• Perform basic platform administration tasks, including installations, patches, configuration, and backups.
• Assist in monitoring platform performance and availability.
• Follow standard operating procedures to support platforms and help resolve incidents.
• Participate in troubleshooting efforts under the guidance of more senior engineers.
• Maintain system documentation, including inventory and configuration records.
• Execute routine maintenance activities to support overall system health.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to knowledge sharing.
• Support compliance with security and operational policies.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field required.
- Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Experience
- 1-3 years of knowledge or experience in systems engineering or system administration required.
- Experience with Windows-based website hosting or administration preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Basic understanding of operating systems, including Windows and Linux.
- Familiarity with networking fundamentals such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN.
- Basic understanding of data structures and database systems.
- Ability to follow documented procedures and contribute to team projects.
- Basic scripting skills, such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
- Understanding of system monitoring concepts and basic troubleshooting techniques.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to document processes and maintain accurate records.
- Willingness to learn new technologies and tools.

Working Conditions
- Hybrid role with onsite work required; candidates should be flexible based on weekly or monthly business needs.
- Monday–Friday schedule during Eastern business hours.
- On remote workdays, employees must work from a stable, secure, and compliant workstation in a quiet environment. Teams video is required and must be accessed using Mass General Brigham-provided equipment.
