Job Summary

Our research group studies genetic risk factors for diabetes, with a focus on immune-mediated conditions such as type 1 diabetes. We apply computational methods to analyze large data sets, including genome-wide association studies. Some examples of research questions include:
(1) Can we develop and apply polygenic scores to predict type 1 diabetes risk in diverse ancestral populations?
(2) Can we apply clustering methods to genetic and clinical data to understand heterogeneity in type 1 diabetes?
(3) Can we use type 1 diabetes polygenic scores to understand pathophysiology in related immune-mediated conditions, such as ketosis-prone diabetes, latent autoimmune diabetes in adults, and immune checkpoint inhibitor-induced diabetes.
