Job Summary
The (per diem) Research Data Analyst will work under the direction of the Principal Investigator to assist graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, clinical fellows, and others with research projects that focus on analytical and computational needs.The work is focused on analytics and programming, as described in more detail below. The person in this position works autonomously and under the supervision of the Principal Investigator for ongoing data collection projects. This individual works as part of a dynamic group dedicated to faculty, clinical, and academic work, where professionalism, adaptability, intelligence, and collegiality are prized. Our current electronic programs span the range from data collection, data presentation, generated reports, data processing, and database expansion. They also include web-based, secure interfaces, as well as interfacing with electronic health records.
Beyond these primary roles, this position will also include interfacing with other team members to support ongoing clinical, epidemiological, and academic research projects.
Qualifications
Essential Functions:
-Provide direct assistance with experimental studies.
-Performs basic computational modeling and statistical analysis; prepares drafts of work for review; applies feedback received to create final analyses and/or reports.
-Meets with the PI and team to discuss work plans, activities, and results to support the applicability of efforts, learning opportunities, and professional development.
-Reviews, collates, and prepares standard analyses of medical record data.
-Perform administrative tasks, such as required for data collection; prepare documentation and record-keeping; update databases; run reports.
-Conducts literature searches and submits appropriate articles to PI and team for consideration; identifies topics of interest for personal reading and may present at lab meetings.
Education
Bachelor's required. Master's Degree in Statistics, Quantitative Science, and/or Epidemiology preferred. Undergraduate or Masters Degree in Computer Science preferred.
Experience
Experience as attained through education 0-1 year required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Understanding of mathematical modeling, including dynamical systems, statistical analysis, and computational methods.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and with supervision from team members.
- Ability to work productively with scientists and clinicians at all levels.
- Works in an organized manner with the ability to follow instructions, processes and timelines.
- Can identify roadblocks occurring within areas of responsibility and refer them to the appropriate party(s) for assistance.
- Strong computer skills, including accurate data entry.
Job Specific Additions
-Prior training to include programming skills in Stata, including data appends, merges, curation, and analytics
-Participates in ensuring the functionality, performance, and compliance of digital solutions
-Facility in timely programming of data collection mechanisms
-Develops and designs databases which can interface with electronic health systems and secure web-based interfaces
-Reliably and intelligently performs programming to optimize data intake, curation, reporting, and maintenance
-Supports complex data capture, including some system administration
-Develops and maintains SOPs for data collection, data management, and reporting procedures for the program and for specific projects.
-An ideal candidate will have knowledge of web-based design and programming, and using APIs
-Ability to perform system administrator functions, e.g. version or software updates.
-Works autonomously and under the supervision of the Principal Investigator and team manager for ongoing projects; works as part of a dynamic group dedicated to faculty, clinical, and academic work, where professionalism, adaptability, intelligence, and collegiality are prized
-Develops programs which maintain network resiliency and ensure data integrity
-Developed and maintains detailed written documentation of work
-Adapts programs for optimization based on user feedback.
-Contribution to collegial, productive, kaizen, mutually beneficial, and good-hearted culture of the already established team
-Programs with sufficient skill to support independent project work
-Performs all other duties as assigned
-A candidate with secondary skills in Full Stack Programming and GitHub or similar portfolio will be favored.
-This is a per diem position with the potential to expand hours if the candidate is successful.
