Job Summary
The OpportunityThe Director role leads a cross-functional team responsible for driving strategic initiatives, enabling operational excellence, and delivering high-value insights across the organization. This role oversees a portfolio that includes project managers, report developers and analytics specialists, and budgeting and planning system owners, ensuring alignment to business priorities and organizational strategy.
The Director partners closely with business and technology leadership to translate complex needs into actionable plans, orchestrate successful implementations, and promote data-driven decision-making. They ensure that new functionality, major enhancements, and projects are executed with clarity, structure, and measurable outcomes, while also owning the governance, standards, and processes that enable smooth delivery
The director provides direction and leadership to ensure enhanced applications performance, applications development meets the agency's needs and data safety is of the upmost concern.
- Oversees large scale projects and initiatives. Oversees Workday reporting, analytics, strategy, and leading PMs with cross functional large scale projects.
- Interprets impact of broad scope organizational change for staff and develops change strategies for successful implementation.
-Develops and manages operational initiatives with measurable outcomes.
-Contributes to the success of the department by providing leadership, direction, and coordination of operations, programs, finances, and human resources for area of responsibility.
-Continually assesses all services, identifies problems, and utilizes data to analyze and propose innovative approaches for solutions.
-Remains current of new trends and best practices and incorporates into Applications Development programs.
-Creates and maintains a satisfying workplace that fosters professional growth and job satisfaction for all members of the team.
Qualifications
Requirements & Skills for Success
- Bachelor's Degree Computer Applications required or Related Field of Study required
- Must be Flexible for onsite in office weekly and for meetings
- This role can consider and review experience in lieu of a degree
- Information Technology Experience 8-10+ years required and Applications Development Experience 8-10+ years required
Enablement & Strategic Initiatives
- Lead a team of project managers responsible for delivering large-scale initiatives, system enhancements, and cross-functional programs.
- Establish and maintain delivery standards, intake processes, governance models, and execution frameworks that support consistency, transparency, and efficiency.
- Drive alignment across stakeholders—HR, Finance, Payroll, Digital, Operations, and external partners—to ensure initiatives are delivered with clear business value.
- Partner with digital application and technology teams to deliver on these initiatives
Reporting and Analytics
- Oversee report writers and analytics specialists, ensuring timely delivery of reporting solutions that support operational needs, regulatory requirements, and strategic decision-making.
- Define reporting standards, data quality expectations, and development practices in collaboration with data governance teams.
- Guide prioritization of analytics and reporting requests based on business impact, complexity, and resource capacity.
Budget and Planning Systems Oversight
- Provide leadership for budgeting and planning software (e.g., Workday Adaptive, Hyperion, or similar), including roadmap ownership, enhancements, change management, and relationship management with Finance partners.
- Ensure integration, reporting, and planning capabilities support Finance forecasting, budgeting cycles, and strategic planning activities.
