Job Summary

The Hoover Lab at Brigham & Women’s Hospital (BWH) is seeking a motivated and talented bioinformatics analyst to join our team. This role focuses on analyzing single-cell and spatial genomics datasets, along with other functional genomic data, to understand the underlying mechanisms of inflammation and tissue damage in autoimmune diseases. As part of the Division of Rheumatology, Inflammation, and Immunity within the Department of Medicine, the Hoover Lab provides a rich intellectual environment, featuring collaboration with experts in both computational biology and immunology and autoimmunity. The ideal candidate will have a solid computational background and strong interest in discovering insights from biological datasets. The position offers an exceptional opportunity to develop and develop and apply expertise in statistical methods, algorithms, data analysis, and bioinformatics tools, within an intellectually stimulating and collaborative environment.


Qualifications

About the Role:

Engage in research projects aimed at understanding the molecular mechanisms driving tissue damage and repair in autoimmunity, including in vitro and in vivo screening approaches focused on macrophage roles in the kidneys using primary human cells or mouse models. Collaborate with lab members to develop mechanistic insights that could translate into improved outcomes for patients with autoimmune disease.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain bioinformatics pipelines for comprehensive data analysis.
  • Perform data analysis using advanced statistical and computational techniques.
  • Conduct literature reviews and assist in preparing presentations and manuscripts for publication.
  • Collaborate with the Principal Investigator (PI) and lab members to refine existing analysis approaches and develop new methods.
  • Undertake other related duties as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s required or master's degree preferred with substantial coursework in computer science, statistics, or a related field. Proficiency in R, python, or other programming language and familiarity with data visualization.
  • Knowledge of immunology, molecular biology, cellular biology, computational genomics, or a related discipline a major plus.
  • Collaborative, curious, and highly organized with a strong professional track record. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
