Job Summary
The Epic Release Manager will lead any and all build and software releases for Epic at MGB Health Plan. The resource will be responsible for coordinating application support and environment management with MGB Digital and eCare teams and providing system expertise to Health Plan IT leadership and end-users.

The Epic Release Manager will lead any and all build and software releases for Epic at MGB Health Plan. The resource will be responsible for coordinating application support and environment management with MGB Digital and eCare teams and providing system expertise to Health Plan IT leadership and end-users.
Accountable for the overall system environments, operations, upgrades, and change management of Health Plan instance of Epic Clinical Data Exchange, Compass Rose, Tapestry applications. Reporting directly to Senior Manager IT Operations, Health Plan Epic Release Manager executes tasks as assigned by their leadership and in their project plans for the implementation of Health Plan Epic Build and software releases.
EPIC Release Manager
- Develops, socialize and gain MGB Health Plan and MGB Digital leadership approval of the Epic Upgrade calendars a year in advance, the calendar includes all major Epic events
- Plans and coordinates all Health Plan Epic Upgrades
- Plans and coordinates all SU (Service Updates) to Health Plan Epic
- Plans and coordinates all Epic monthly build releases
- Develop policies and procedures for moving Epic build to production
- Educate Clinical Informatics and Configuration teams on build policies and procedures
- Participates in MGB’s Build Integrity work group
- Participates in the MGB’s Build Advisory Council
- Participates in the MGB’s “Upgrade Performance Improvement Workgroup” with Health Plan and Digital leaders
- Be the subject matter expert to MGB Health Plan leaders for all Epic Release Management information
- Responsible for Health Plan Epic build compliance auditing
- Coordinate release management support requirements with MGB Digital and execute tasks including release management monitoring for Health Plan.
- Other duties as assigned by the Support and Complementary Applications leadership.

- Works collaboratively with other IT groups to ensure solid cross-functional decisions are made as a team.
- Develops collaborative working relationships with all business partners / departments.
- Coordinates with infrastructure to ensure smooth operations and business results.
- Represents clinical reporting at change control and ensures that all scheduled releases have gone through an adequate test process and are documented before going to change control.
- Meets regularly with direct manager to escalate issues, report status of requests and identify opportunities for improvements.
- Works as a team player to plan and meet deadlines while promoting a positive work environment.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or MIS, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of eight years of experience in information systems, including extensive experience with supporting large, complex, mission critical systems (within the healthcare industry preferred).
- Direct experience in providing application support services, including environment and release management, as well as participation in or leadership of issue tracking, communication, and escalation processes and procedures.
- Ability to plan and manage projects, staff, other resources and timelines, and to coordinate and follow up on tasks accordingly.
- Experience in clinical and/or health plan system management, health plan medical management functions, clinical application support and operations.
Preferred/Desired:
- Experience in Epic Payer Platform, Compass Rose and/or Tapestry and related third party systems and integrations.
- Certifications in Epic applications is strongly preferred.
- Experience in the healthcare industry is strongly preferred.
- Possess deep knowledge of all aspects of the software development life cycle.
- Proven problem solver.
- Technical leader with experience in Operational and Analytical Reporting.
- Familiarity with Agile and Scrum development methodologies.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to work collaboratively with all business units.
