Job Summary
The Network Tech will report to the Manager of Mass General Brigham Community Hospital Network technicians or the designated Supervisor. The position will reside at one of the designated Community Hospitals and will be required to travel off-site and affiliated hospitals.The Network Technician I will be responsible for providing technical support services for desktop computers, laptop computers, printers, tablets, monitors, scanners, and other peripheral devices. Additionally, the Individual will offer support for Apple and Android devices, as well as assist with A/V systems, phones, and any software and hardware necessary for the smooth operation of the hospital. This may include patching network cables in the data closet and installing MGB UKG time clocks. Responsibilities will also include device deployment, software installation, testing network connections, troubleshooting services, and repairs. Service requests will be tracked and documented in service management software.

At the discretion of the Manager, Supervisor, or Shift Lead, the individual may be required to travel to off-site locations in support of projects or provide support when needed. All travel from their designated site will be reimbursed at the MGB standard rate.
The Tech will adhere to the MGB Digital uniform policy and the designated shift schedule.
The Network Tech will work the assigned shift and use the MGB UKG time clocks at the start and end of the shift to document the hours worked. The Manager/Supervisor will be notified at least 7 days before any planned time off. If the individual needs to be out for sickness or an emergency, they will notify the Manager/Supervisor before the shift starts.
The Network Tech will be required to support all areas of the hospital including locations that require the use of Personal Protection Equipment, and PPE. Individuals will be trained in its use and will follow all precautions requiring the use of PPE. Before entering any area that requires the use of PPE, the individual will work with the clinical staff to ensure all policies are adhered to.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required
- Experience in lieu of a degree may be reviewed and considered
- Professional front line experience with the installation, repair and troubleshooting of personal computers 1-2 years preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of operating systems (Windows, macOS, etc.), hardware components, network protocols, and troubleshooting methodologies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with hospital staff, explain technical concepts in non-technical terms, and document support activities clearly.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to identify and resolve technical issues quickly and efficiently.
- A strong customer-oriented approach, with a focus on providing excellent service and support to hospital staff.
- The role may involve some lifting and moving of computer equipment, so physical fitness may be required.

Newton-Wellesley Hospital. The working hours will be from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, and the role will be fully on-site.
