Job Summary
Responsible for developing and implementing policies, procedures, and technology systems to ensure the efficient and compliant management of health information by leading a team of professionals to maintain the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of patient data while supporting the organization's clinical and administrative functions.-Oversee the implementation and maintenance of health information management systems, including electronic health records (EHR) and health information exchange (HIE) platforms.
-Collaborate with IT teams and vendors to ensure the functionality, security, and interoperability of health information systems.
-Develop and enforce policies and procedures for the creation, maintenance, and retention of patient health records and other health information in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
-Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other applicable privacy and security regulations governing the access, use, and disclosure of protected health information (PHI).
-Implement and monitor security measures to protect health information from unauthorized access, breaches, and cyber threats.
-Supervise and provide guidance to health information management staff, including medical coders, health information technicians, and release of information specialists.
-Collaborate with clinical departments, medical staff, and administrative teams to ensure timely and accurate documentation and data exchange.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree Health Information Management required or Bachelor's Degree Related Field of Study required and Master's Degree Related Field of Study preferred
- Health Information Management Experience 5-7 years required and Management Experience 3-5 years required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Comprehensive knowledge of health information management systems, coding practices, and health information privacy and security regulations.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and health information exchange (HIE) technologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve health information management challenges.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders.
- Demonstrated commitment to maintaining patient privacy, confidentiality, and data integrity.
