Mass General Brigham is developing a new team of Data Concierge experts to support the research community and seeking a manager of the team.
The Digital Research Operations team was created in Digital in October of 2023 to enable and accelerate biomedical research and discovery through the provision of exceptional technology and data services to researchers and investigators. The new function of Data Concierge experts will report to the Director of Research Data Platforms.
The Digital Research Operations Data Concierge Manager will build the team and capabilities The data concierge team will serves as the primary liaison between researchers and data teams, ensuring seamless access to accurate, timely, and relevant data. This role requires a deep understanding of data systems, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to translate business needs into actionable data solutions. The Data Concierge will manage data requests, provide data insights, and support decision-making processes by delivering tailored data products and services. Examples of data needs include cohort feasibility, data for projects, data governance process and connecting researchers with the appropriate resources and tools to keep data secure and compliant with MGB policies.
The Data Concierge team will collaborate with the data, cloud and innovation teams in Digital, and support researchers across MBG. They will act as a custodian and subject matter expert within Digital for the data needs and opportunities of Research
• Manages the Research Data Concierge team, including hiring, training, mentoring, and performance evaluation.
• Accountable for overseeing the research data concierge efforts of all research data products, enforces MGB Digital standards, and identifies bottlenecks impacting our velocity and quality of our data and proposes strategies to overcome them.
• Develops and enforces strong quality assurance processes consistent output across all data products.
• Fosters a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the research data concierge team, encouraging the adoption of new technologies and methodologies to enhance the quality and efficiency of research data products.
• Stays current with industry trends and emerging technologies, integrating relevant advancements into the work.
• Functions as a Team Lead overseeing the research data platform domain teams; working closely with Domain Stakeholders to understand prioritization and product requirement; partners closely with enterprise data platform technical teams to ensure appropriate escalation of technical blockers / impediments and alignment on technical requirements.
• Provide appropriate and timely problem escalation (including potential solutions where applicable) to leadership, project stakeholders, and executive management.
• Fosters a culture of learning and growth within the domain development team, providing feedback, coaching, and mentoring to team members. Builds trust and collaboration among the team and across other domain teams.
• Build and maintain key relationships with senior leadership, researchers , and other stakeholders to understand complex business problems and develop analytical solutions.
• Builds and maintains a high-level understanding of the research data needs at Mass General Brigham including data sources, data and research indexing of data c assets and products.

Qualifications
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, informatics, statistics, or related field and an interest in healthcare and the use of technology to support clinical care.
• 1-3 years prior supervisory experience in the analytics field
• Experience implementing processes for quality assurance testing
• Proficiency in querying complex data structures using SQL is required.
• Strong programming skills and proficient in other programming languages (e.g., SAS, R, and Python)
• Experience with general source control principles and implementing CI/CD pipelines.
• Working knowledge of traditional data warehousing and cloud data warehousing concepts.
• Working knowledge of data visualization software preferred.
• Proficiency working in Snowflake and enterprise data platforms preferred.

• Will build the team with direct supervision of up to 5-10 research data concierge experts

Working Model
• Hybrid, local travel to Mass General Brigham sites for Team and Stakeholder Meetings, Somerville, MA / Local MGB sites
