In close collaboration with both clinical and administrative leadership, the Data Informatics Specialist is responsible for developing clinical, operational, and financial reports for both internal and external purposes. This position provides valuable experience working with healthcare data and learning about the day-to-day operations of a community health center, as well as supporting clinical staff in caring for the local underserved community.
The primary responsibility of the Data Informatics Specialist is to assist the health center in extracting data from its clinical applications for the purposes of quality improvement, population health management, operational optimization, and external reporting
Design, create, and run custom reports for the following purposes:
- Meeting external regulatory requirements
- Providing necessary data for grant applications and reports
- Supporting internal quality improvement activities
- Facilitating population health monitoring and outreach
- Assisting clinicians in tracking their patients by demographic characteristics, diagnoses, medication, or other criteria
- Responding to the day-to-day operational and administrative reporting needs
- supplying health center leadership with reports to facilitate data-driven, evidence-based decision making.
- Curating dashboards and ongoing grant and clinical reports
- Oversee and troubleshoot data entry and reporting in external databases as required by grants e.g., E2Boston and Careware.
Assume responsibility for the entire life cycle of reporting requests: Understanding the reporting requirements, determining the workflows that lead to data capture, writing reports to extract necessary information, and presenting the data in a useable form.

- Ensure ongoing monitoring of key performance indicators and quality metrics.
- Support the development, updating, and distribution of performance dashboards on a regular basis.
- Create sustainable models of tracking which allow the providers to maintain their focus on meeting the needs of their patients.

- Work with a range of tools, and not limited to; SQL, Crystal, Excel, in order to query clinical, operational, and financial data from the health center’s multiple clinical applications, particularly Epic.
- Retrieve, clean, validate, and cross-reference data from multiple sources.
- Convert pre-built reports into customized formats as requested.
- Assist in the development and tracking of quality improvement projects and population health management initiatives.
- Report out on an ongoing basis to both staff and leadership the Board of Directors on the department’s status in meeting various goals.
- Ensure that clinical data is being documented in the correct ways to be captured for reporting purposes.
- Act as the liaison between Codman Square Health Center and stakeholders (internal and external) to ensure appropriate data mapping between HER.
- Other responsibilities as necessary potential for hybrid options post the evaluation period
Qualifications
Preferred Experience

- The ideal candidate has experience working as a database analyst in a healthcare environment.
- Master’s degree in public health, data science, or a related field preferred.
- Experience working with relational databases, Crystal Reports, and/or SQL highly preferred.
- Experience with EHR systems (ideally OCHIN or Epic) preferred.
- Previous experience with data analysis preferred.
- Experience in healthcare quality and population-based clinical quality initiatives preferred.
- Familiarity with workflow and process improvement methods and tools (Visio, Lean) is a plus.
Qualifications and Skills:

- Bachelor’s Degree (or comparable relevant experience) required.
- 2+ years of professional experience required.
- Expert knowledge of Excel is absolutely crucial.
- Technical aptitude and a willingness to learn new systems required.
- Problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and self-directed learning are key skills for this position.
