POSITION SUMMARY:
The Development Data Solutions Analyst II is a hands-on technical role that supports Boston Medical Center’s fundraising and stewardship strategy by transforming donor, gift, and fund data into reliable, reporting-ready outputs such as user-friendly dashboards, visualization products, and reports that enable decision making across the Development structure. Using SQL, RENXT, Omatic, Microsoft Excel, and Power Automate, the Analyst II builds and documents standardized extracts, analyzes data outputs, ensures data accuracy, and develops repeatable solutions that reduce manual work and improve reporting confidence. This role provides essential technical support to the Development Services and Analytics teams, enabling accurate, timely, and actionable reporting of philanthropic data and is responsible for the development, maintenance, and administration of the Development ETL/data mart.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
Data Development & Reporting
- Collaborate with data users, leadership, and the Development Analytics & Reporting team to define the data model and processes to create, maintain and administer the Development data mart
- Write and run SQL queries to extract, clean, and join RENXT and related data.
- Build standardized data extracts and templates (gifts, pledges, funds, constituents) that support recurring reporting needs.
- Create and maintain reports and dashboards in Tableau or Power BI.
- Respond to ad-hoc reporting requests, providing accurate, timely data outputs.
Integrations & Automation
- Oversee data integrations between RENXT and other platforms using Omatic.
- Use Microsoft Power Automate to simplify recurring tasks such as report refreshes, file transfers, or distribution.
- Reduce manual data handling by turning common processes into standardized or automated outputs. Proactively seek and address other aspects of data management/data use that would benefit from increased efficiency or process improvement
Data Quality & Documentation
- Run validation checks and flag inconsistencies for follow-up by Development Services team, providing guidance and support to team as needed
- Document queries, logic, and reporting processes in clear, user-friendly formats.
- Develop and maintain a basic data dictionary, instructions, and user support materials so colleagues can use standard outputs confidently.
- Closely monitor performance, identify problems and implement solutions. Ensure the database is running at optimum speed and efficiency.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in information systems/technology, computer science, data science
- 3+ years of experience working with relational databases, SQL development, database administration, and/or BI development at a hospital or health care institution
- or equivalent combination of education and experience.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Experience with Omatic or similar ETL/middleware & processes.
- Hands-on experience with fundraising CRMs (RENXT strongly preferred).
- Experience with database administration and management tools
- Experience with reporting and reporting tools such as Power BI or Tableau
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS PREFERRED:
- Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT Certification (Professional or Fundamentals).
- Tableau Desktop Specialist or similar data visualization certification.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES (KSAs):
- Thorough understanding relational database concepts and SQL programming for designing, troubleshooting, and validating queries to ensure accurate reporting. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (lookups, pivot tables, formulas, Power Query) and strong proficiency across Microsoft 365 applications, including Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and Power Automate.
- Familiarity with data visualization and reporting tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with exceptional documentation skills and ability to ensure accuracy under tight deadlines.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and requests simultaneously.
- Understanding of fundraising data structures (gifts, funds, pledges, constituents).
- Ability to maintain donor confidentiality.
- Exposure to scripting languages (Python, R) or automation concepts.
Compensation Range:
$66,500.00- $96,500.00This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer. This includes education, experience, skills, and certifications/licensures as they directly relate to position requirements; as well as business/organizational needs, internal equity, and market-competitiveness.
