**Position able to work fully remote. Position expected to work up to 10 hours/week but may turn into a full time in the future dependent upon need. Working hours can be outside of normal business hours besides occasional mutually agreed upon meeting with others on team***
Reporting directly to the VP of BCH Clinical Research Operations, will collaborate in the creation and leadership of the Analytics program. The goal of this program is to deliver readily available and actionable data that can be used to inform and influence decision making to achieve desired outcomes, ultimately driving better and more cost-effective research operations at the hospital.
Responsible for:
- Analytics
- In partnership with colleagues from other organizational departments, develops on-demand reporting processes and outputs
- Utilizes existing data sets – with particular attention to the quality and integrity of database inputs and elemental definitions
- Builds new databases, dashboards, as needed, and maintains a valid and accurate data repository to ensure availability of required information
- Advises on the development of data collection and management systems. Defines specifications for key data elements, data collection procedures, and integrity of databases
- Provides analyses and reports of institution-wide performance indicators as well as project specific metrics that are timely, accurate, interpretable, and actionable
- Serves as a subject matter expert for visualization tools (e.g. Microstrategy, Tableau, PowerBI, etc.) and techniques for insightful display of data for business decision-makers
- Uses data from third party sources and links results to hospital data for benchmarking and other analyses
- Leads the development of KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) and delivers data analytics and business intelligence solutions, methods, and benchmarks
- Identifies, analyzes, and interprets trends or patterns in complex data sets
- Maintains expertise in current and emerging data management and analysis methods, including appropriate computer software applications
- Project Management/Continuous Improvement:
- Actively contributes to multiple continuous improvement projects of varying size and complexity
- Maintains working knowledge of continuous improvement and project management methodologies
- Actively contributes to internal departmental process improvement
- Composes, edits and delivers written and verbal communications to key stakeholders (internal and external), Senior Leadership and associates at all levels of the organization as needed
- Reporting:
- Prepares various reports, and analyses related to the assigned function
- Develops and prepares a variety of ad-hoc reporting, and analyses to senior management as requested or as deemed necessary
- Works with department managers to educate, advise, interpret the relationship of processes to reports; trouble shoot, resolve problems, and reconcile balances, including providing written analyses, explanations, and interpretations of all aspects of financial and budgeting processes
You must have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Natural Sciences, CS, healthcare/business administration, or other relevant fields
- 3 years of proven success performing financial, operational, utilization, quality improvement or other quantitative analytical work, preferably in an academic setting
- Strong understanding of SQL syntax and/or related coding skills
- Knowledge of dimensional data modeling concepts used in data warehousing and business analytic applications
- Ability to build strong relationships with key partners and stakeholders across the organization
- Knowledge of PC-based software applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Preferred: Knowledge of other software applications such as SharePoint, Smartsheet, Confluence, and Jira
- Preferred: Knowledge of predictive analytics, modeling, or simulation. Experience with R, Python, or other similar tools
