The Manager of Data Science (Enterprise Data & Analytics) at Boston Children’s Hospital will lead a team dedicated to leveraging data science methodologies to enhance patient care outcomes, streamline operations, and facilitate clinical research. This role involves overseeing the development and implementation of machine learning models, statistical analyses, and predictive analytics that support various hospital functions. The manager will collaborate with various stakeholders, including clinicians, researchers, and administrative personnel, to ensure the effective translation of data insights into actionable strategies.

The Data Science Manager will be responsible to:

• Leadership and Strategic Vision: Provides leadership, direction, and oversight to the Data Science team, part of the larger Enterprise Data & Analytics team within the BCH IT Department. Develops strategic plans to enhance data-driven decision-making capabilities across the hospital.

• Team Management: Recruits, trains, and mentors data scientists, engineers, analysts, and related staff. Manages team performance and development, ensuring alignment with hospital goals and objectives.

• Project Oversight: Manages multiple data science projects, ensuring they meet timelines, budget, and quality standards. Facilitates collaboration across departments to integrate data science findings with operational practices.

• Advanced Analytical Techniques: Implements advanced statistical techniques and machine learning models to analyze complex datasets, translating data into insights that improve patient outcomes and hospital efficiency.

• Data Engineering Integration: Oversees the data engineering functions within the team, ensuring robust data pipelines and architecture are maintained to support advanced analytics. Works closely with data engineers to optimize data systems and pipeline architecture, enhancing data flow and collection processes critical for scaling up data-driven decision-making.

• Stakeholder Engagement: Acts as a liaison between the data science team and other hospital departments, ensuring data science projects align with broader institutional needs and priorities.

• Innovation and Research Support: Supports clinical research initiatives by providing expertise in data modeling, predictive analytics, and statistical analysis. Encourages innovation within the team to explore new data science techniques and tools.

• Compliance and Integrity: Works with security, compliance and other teams within BCH to ensure that all data management and analysis complies with applicable laws, regulations, and standards, maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of patient and institutional data.

To qualify you must have:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science or IT
• Master’s Degree is preferred
• Minimum six years of experience
• Proven ability to lead and manage teams in a technical environment
• Strong proficiency in statistical analysis and machine learning methodologies
• Hybrid options if you live in MA, RI, NH or ME
